Lil was born in Kilsyth, a small town in Central Scotland at the foot of the beautiful Campsie Hills. Lil’s career in the glitzy world of show business began at the tender age of 3 years old. During her time in the entertainment industry Lil has been a professional dancer, comedienne, actress, producer, choreographer,dance teacher, songwriter and poet. Lil’s many talents led to her working with some of the biggest names in Scottish show business including Stanley Baxter, Billy Connelly, Tony Hancock, Johnny Beattie, Jack Milroy and Ricki Fulton (of Francie and Josie fame) to name but a few. Down through the years Lil has tread the boards in many a theatre and appeared on television on numerous occasions. Lil’s last television role was in The Steamie, Scottish Television’s highly successful comedy-drama which followed the lives of a group of 1950’s Glasgow woman washing their clothes in a public washhouse (The Steamie). It was first performed at the Crawford Theatre, Glasgow in 1987. Scottish Television subsequently made a television version of the comedy for transmission on Hogmanay 1988 which Lil starred in.One of the highlights of Lil’s career came in 1964 when she met Elvis Presley while working as a professional dancer at the Dunes Casino in Las Vegas. On her return to Scotland that year Lil took part in the Scottish Royal Command Performance in the presence of their Royal Highnesses Princess Alexandra and Angus Ogilvy.In 1984 Lil married Jack Alexander, one half of the world-renowned Scottish entertainers The Alexander Brothers. During her time with Jack, Lil wrote the lyrics to a number of great Scottish songs including Swan Lady, Jimmy Shand The Legend and A Toast to Andy Stewart. Lil was very happily married to Jack until his sad passing in November 2013. Lil’s creative

talents has seen move into the world of writing and her forthcoming book, The Adventures of Jack the Scottish Piper and His Ornamental Friends, will be dedicated to Jack’s memory. Lil has another book published called The Wee Tartan Book of Verse and Poems which is available to buy in Lil’s shop on this website.
